Texans Crush Browns in Wild Card Thriller
Houston Dominates Cleveland, Advances to Divisional Round
The Houston Texans put on a dominant performance in the Super Wild Card Weekend matchup against the Cleveland Browns, cruising to a 45-14 victory and advancing to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Texans Surge in Dominant Wild Card Win
The Texans defense set the tone early, forcing the Browns into three-and-outs on their first two possessions. The offense capitalized, with quarterback Kyle Allen connecting with wide receiver Nico Collins for a 25-yard touchdown pass to give Houston the early lead.
The Browns struggled to find their footing, and the Texans took advantage. Running back Dameon Pierce rushed for two touchdowns in the first half, and the Texans defense continued to dominate, forcing multiple interceptions from Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Texans Lock It Down in the Second Half
With a 28-7 lead at halftime, the Texans refused to let up in the second half. The defense continued to pressure Watson, sacking him four times, and the offense continued to roll, adding another touchdown pass from Allen to Collins.
Watson and the Browns managed to put together a brief rally in the fourth quarter, scoring a touchdown to cut the deficit to 35-14. However, it was too little, too late, as the Texans defense sealed the victory on a goal-line stand in the final minutes.
Texans Advance with First Playoff Win
The Texans' victory marked their first playoff win since 2019 and sends them to the Divisional Round for the first time since 2016. Houston will face the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in the next round.
